WWE Superstar Collection: Sheamus DVD Review
Many of you are probably wondering why I decided to buy and review a Sheamus DVD, but there are two reasons behind it. The first being that it came along with ECW Unreleased Volume 1 for only $9.99. Two DVD's for $10? That's a deal. Secondly, although I've never been a big fan of Sheamus (and I've been anti-Sheamus in the past), I've recently become somewhat of a fan of him. His in-ring work is superb and his improved alot recently. As long as he stays off the mic and doesn't play superman, I enjoy his matches.
This DVD takes a look back at the early years of Sheamus' career in WWE, spanning from late 2009-early 2012. If you follow me on Twitter, you probably remember me bitching about how quick he got the title so it's gonna be interesting going back and watching the progression of his career and seeing my views on it from a 2014 perspective. Without further a due, let's get into this Superstar Collection DVD on Sheamus.
1) John Cena vs. Sheamus - Tables Match for the WWE Championship - TLC 2009
I didn't see this match when it originally happened, I had only heard about it as I don't regularly order WWE PPV's. I must say I was surprised by this match. It wasn't amazing by any means, but it was an enjoyable contest. I've learned that if you can get past your pre-conceived views on someone, you will enjoy some contests that you never thought you could. This is one of those matches. ECW Unreleased Volume 1 DVD Review
1) Shane Douglas vs. 2 Cold Scorpio - NWA World Championship Match - Hardcore TV
This was the match that changed everything. Well, what happend after the match changed everything. The match itself was a solid encounter between Douglas and Scorpio although it came off as just an average encounter. I feel it could have been much better given the two guys involved, but that's not to take away from it as it was still a good match. Afterwards, Shane Douglas cuts the promo in which he throws the NWA Championship to the ground and says that all the legends who held it could kiss his ass. Douglas then brings out the ECW Championship. That promo was the beginning of the era of Extreme Championship Wrestling.
Match rating - ***
2) Tommy Dreamer vs. Raven - Hostile City Showdown
With this being a best of ECW set, there's no way a match from the Raven/Dreamer feud couldn't be included. It was one of the most famous feuds in the history of the company.

PWG: Threemendous III DVD Review

PWG World Tag Team Champions - Super Smash Bros
Commentary: Excalibur, Chuck Taylor, Joey Ryan, & Kevin Steen
1) Famous B vs. Joey Ryan
Decent opening match, but not anything special. They hit some cool moves and had a pretty good exchange near the end, other than that this was an average match. Both of these guys are really good in the ring, so I expected better than this, but it's not a big deal as it was fairly short. These two didn't mesh very well together, but it's a solid contest, nothing overly bad.
Match rating - **1/4
2) TJ Perkins vs. Roderick Strong
We go from an opener that was decent at the most, to an outstanding technical wrestling match here between Perkins and Strong. These guys went move for move in a near 15 minute bout that was extremely fun to watch. I expected this to be really good, but these guys exceeded my expectations and produced an awesome match.
Match rating - ***1/2
3) Fightin Taylor Boys (Chuck Taylor & Ryan Taylor) vs. RockNES Monsters
These two teams had an awesome match at Steen Wolf, except Brian Cage was representing the Taylor boys with Ryan instead of Chuck.

ROH: CM Punk - Second City Saint DVD Review
CM Punk: Second City Saint DVD Review
This DVD was released by ROH and chronicles his time in ROH from 2002 (when he debuted) through 2003 & 2004. It features his matches against Colt Cabana, AJ Styles, Raven, Terry Funk and others as well as his matches tag teaming with Colt Cabana and Ace Steel as a member of The Second City Saints. It also features several great promos that he gives before and after some of the matches. The DVD also has guest appearances by legends such as Tommy Dreamer and Ricky Steamboat, who have small parts in some of the feuds chronicled on this DVD.
CM Punk's debut in ROH at Unscripted 2002
This is the footage of Punk debuting at Unscripted and he cuts a great promo on how he loves wrestling and that it's not entertainment, its a sport. He is interrupted by Colt Cabana which sets up a match between the two, which is featured next on the set.
CM Punk vs. Colt Cabana - ROH Night of The Butcher - 12/7/2002
This match was Punk and Cabana's first match against each other in ROH. Before coming to ROH, Punk and Cabana made a name for themselves wrestling throughout the mid-west in 2000-2001. So, this was a highly anticipated match. It certainly delivered. Solid match throughout with some very innovative moves. One of my favorites was seeing Cabana do a moonsault to the outside onto Punk. For a guy of his size, Cabana can move quickly. As the commentator said "He's like a running back with a lineman's build". Another cool move that got a standing ovation was Punk doing a backwards hurricanrana on Cabana. Good stuff.
Match rating - 8/10
Before the next match, we see footage of Punk, Cabana, and Ace Steel traveling to the show, which is quite funny. Cabana refers to Punk as the "drive master" and gets Punk mad and he says "Its not funny, I'm trying to drive and you won't give me the damn directions". Good little segment which helped build the importance of the next match.
CM Punk vs. Colt Cabana - Final Battle 2002 - 12/28/2002
The winner of this match would recieve a contract with Ring of Honor. This was another great match between Punk and Cabana. What I liked was that it wasn't the exact same as their previous match at Night of the Butcher. They used some fresh new moves we didn't see in the previous match and delivered once again.

PWG: Steen Wolf DVD Review
For those who don't know, PWG (Pro Wrestling Guerilla) is a wrestling company based out of Reseda, California. They normally have around 10-12 shows a year. PWG is the stomping grounds of many current WWE and TNA stars such as Daniel Bryan, Antonio Cesaro, Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn, Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, Samoa Joe, and many others.This event in particular took place on October 22, 2011 and was headlined by Kevin Steen defending his PWG World Championship against El Generico (Sami Zayn) in a Ladder Match.
Excalibur is on commentary as usual for this show, with various guests joining him throughout the show.
1) Peter Avalon, Freddy Bravo, & Ray Rosas vs. Famous B, Chris Kadillak, & Candice LeRae
One hell of an opening match here. Four of the competitors in this match were actually making their debut in PWG in this match. The two that weren't new to PWG were Peter Avalon and Candice LeRae. Needless to say, all six competitors brought their A game and delivered an awesome opening contest. This was my first time seeing these six compete and one thing that confused me immediately was that Candice LeRae was the only woman in the match. I'd seen her name in matches with men before, so I was interested to see what she looked like and how she was in the ring. I expected a big, strong woman similar to Awesome Kong since she's a woman competing with men, but Candice is the exact opposite. She's an average sized female wrestler and she held her own in this match and then some against all male competitors. She uses a move called the ballplex where she suplexes the men by their balls. Cool shit. She definitely impressed me in this match. Another guy I particularly found impressive was Peter Avalon who was not only great in the ring, but in his character as well. He acted as if he was gonna do a spinaroonee like Booker T, but then flipped the fans off as soon as they got excited. Great heel move. Besides these two, EVERYONE in this match impressed me. It'd take me way too long to name all the stuff each person in this match did that impressed me. They used some innovative moves that I've never seen before such as a shooting star cannon ball into the corner.

WWE Best of Raw & Smackdown 2013 DVD Review
I'm going to be reviewing all the matches on this set. There are a number of segments included on this DVD as well. I will list them at the end of this review.
1) CM Punk vs. Ryback - TLC Match for the WWE Championship
This match took place on the first Raw of the year. Although, Punk and Ryback's feud in late 2012 sucked, the closing chapter (this match) was awesome. Who knew a below average feud would end with a match this good. There were some cool spots as well as some dangerous bumps in this match. Some of these include Ryback running through a table, Punk being thrown over the top rope through a table, Punk getting slammed onto the leg of a ladder, and the infamous ending where The Shield slams Ryback through a table onto the steel steps. It was a really good TLC match and the best match in Punk and Ryback's feud.
Match rating - 8/10
2) Alberto Del Rio vs. The Big Show - Last Man Standing Match for the World Heavyweight Championship

PWG Sells Out 3 - The Best of PWG Volume 3 DVD Review
After picking up All Star Weekend 9 and seeing how amazing PWG was, I decided to pick up this set. It's three discs featuring nine hours of the best matches in PWG. Some of the people featured on this set include Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan), Rob Van Dam, Claudio Castagnoli (Antonio Cesaro), Kevin Steen, The Young Bucks, El Generico (Sami Zayn), PAC (Adrian Neville) and many more. Without further a due, let's get started.
1) The Briscoe Brothers vs. B-boy and Super Dragon - Are You Adequately Prepared To Rock? - October 4, 2003
As some of you know or don't know, The Briscoes are a phenomenal tag team. Them combined with the excellence of Super Dragon gave me high expectations for this match. Needless to say, they fullfilled those expectations. All four men put on a good showing here and The Briscoes showed once again why they are one of the best tag teams of the past decade. Solid tag team wrestling is showcased at its finest in this awesome match.
Match rating - ***3/4
